An age old discussion now about the correct methods of keeping warm, maintaining training schedules and interest during the cold winter months........
A common misconception people on the outside of our community make, is that cycling is a sport and mode of transport that is only used during the warm summer days. During the hot days, a ride in the countryside or into work is a very logical, enjoyable thing to do, fast forward six months when the picnic basket is collecting cobwebs and the windscreen is frosting over cycling is suddenly viewed as barmy rather than balmy.
So why ? Why is a sport/activity suddenly cast aside by the vast majority of people who get so much pleasure from the saddle during the summer? The answer of course is a simple one and one that i hear a lot........because its cold dark and horrible! So us in the cycling community must come together, share our views, our ideas and solutions to the winter problems. We must educate the summer riders and help to maintain the love and warmth!!!
So how do we do it ? How do we keep the pedals turning and stop the toes turning white? Base layers? Merino wool? Thin layers? Creams ? Oils? Overshoes? Will Power? Bravado?........
Please share your methods, help maintain the love and remain SaddledDrunk!!!!!.....
